That one bottle...
Something my sons and I used to do when we first came to Argentina. Play a little game of "best wine for the price."
We'd go to our local shop and sort through the local wines on a hunt to find a hidden gem.
Most of these bottles were in the $5-10 range. Not all of them were great, but some were incredible.
I remember a dusty bottle from one of the local coops that didn't even have a label. Incredible balance. The right amount of acidity, fruit, structure.
We still talk about that bottle to this day. Unfortunately, being from a coop we could never track down exactly where it came from. Even after many bottles from the same coop, we could never find it again.
It's something I love and hate about wine. It's delicate and fleeting.
No two years or soil or blending are exactly the same.
It's like a message in a bottle, except the message changes over time. Hopefully improving...
