Jeroboam wine bottle meaning

Jeroboam is a context-dependent bottle name. The official Comité Champagne sequence defines a Jeroboam as 3 liters, equal to four 750 mL bottles. Many still-wine reference charts—especially in a Bordeaux context—use Jeroboam for 4.5 liters, equal to six 750 mL bottles.

Because the word can point to two different capacities, never use “Jeroboam” as a standalone conversion. Read the net contents on the label or producer specification and state both the liters and the wine context.
