Standard wine bottle meaning

A standard wine bottle contains 750 mL. It is the baseline used to express bottle equivalents: a 1.5 L magnum equals two 750 mL bottles, and a 3 L format equals four.

Using NIST’s conversion of one U.S. fluid ounce to 29.57353 mL, 750 mL is about 25.36 U.S. fluid ounces or 5.07 five-ounce volume units. That arithmetic describes capacity, not a serving recommendation.

“Standard” does not mean that 750 mL is the only lawful or commercial wine package. TTB currently authorizes many U.S. wine fills, and Argentine labeling rules likewise center the declared metric net contents. Bottle height, diameter, glass mass, punt, and silhouette can differ at the same volume, so dimensions must come from the actual producer or package specification.
